St. Luke's Magic Valley employs a Paramedic Manager, who reports directly to the Critical Care Director. The Critical Care Director is a member of the St. Luke's management team and oversees the operations of Magic Valley Paramedics.

Magic Valley Paramedics also retains the services of a Physician Medical Director to collaborate with the Magic Valley Paramedics management and provide overall medical direction to the Paramedic Service.

St. Luke's Magic Valley has established an Advisory Committee, consisting of various SLMV employees, a County Commissioner, a Medical Center Board Member and members of the community. This committee meets regularly to consider matters pertaining to Magic Valley Paramedics and make recommendation to the SLMV Management and designees on various issues surrounding the operation of Magic Valley Paramedics.

Magic Valley Paramedics practice under both direct and indirect medical supervision.  Liberal written protocols, designed with our input and authorized by our medical director, Dr. Kevin Kraal, provide guidance for most situations.   In complicated situations, where time permits it or the situation dictates it, we can also access on-line medical direction, via radio or telephone, from the physicians at the St Luke’s Magic Valley Emergency Department.

The advanced level care we provide includes, but is not limited to, electrocardiogram (EKG) monitoring, including 12-lead EKG, defibrillation, cardioversion and pacing.  Aggressive airway management includes oral tracheal intubation, Rapid Sequence Intubation (RSI), and oxygen and carbon dioxide level monitoring (SPO2 and ETCO2).  We administer numerous emergency medications and gain vascular access for adult and pediatric patients through such advanced techniques as, peripheral venous cannulation, external jugular cannulation, intraosseous cannulation, and central venous access through PICC lines and Porta Cath devices.
